The Green Bay Packers fell one game shy of the Super Bowl in 2019 and these five players will need to be great in order to take the next step this season.

There’s no question that year one of the Matt LaFleur era was a successful one for Green Bay as the Packers went 13-3 and advanced all the way to the NFC Championship Game. That appearance resulted in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers, leaving a clear goal of Super Bowl or bust for the Packers in 2020.

There are plenty of players who need to perform well for Green Bay to reach the big game, but these five guys are especially important, including outside linebacker Rashan Gary.

5. Rashan Gary

One of two first-round picks for the Packers in 2019, Gary was pretty much a non-factor as a rookie. The Packers were hoping for an instant impact on the edge from Gary, who recorded just 21 tackles and two sacks in his rookie year. With opposing offenses trying to slow down Preston Smith and Za’Darius Smith, Green Bay needs Gary to chip in more on defense. Gary has to be a factor in the defensive game plan and not merely a rotational player if the Packers’ defense is going to maintain its performance from a year ago.
