3. Ugly NCAA basketball uniforms: East Carolina Pirates

I know I said we were going to keep this to the major conferences, but then I saw this uniform and it was so bad I had to include it on this list. This almost made the top of my list but somehow there are two worse.

The look on the two players’ faces in the picture is probably more about having to wear these uniforms as opposed to the actual game going on. They are that bad. I wish I was in the room when they showed these uniforms to the players. If there was a good reaction they had to be faking it.

I don’t like the shoulder stripes on any uniforms but they mostly don’t look as bad as the ones on this uniform. They are oversized and just look bad. Not to mention that because of their color combination of purple and yellow, it pops even more, and in this case that is not a good thing.

Then it looks like they just gave up on the rest of the jersey. The font of the letters is about as plain as you can get. Sometimes plain is good but not here. Then they made the numbers tiny compared to it and it is a weird contrast between the two. I am not sure what look they were going for there.

Lastly, we get to the shorts. Wow, these are just awful. There should be no reason to bring the stripe to the front of the shorts. Then put some sort of design on it and it is horrible. The funny thing is I really like the crossbones logo on the bottom of their left leg, but it gets lost with the outlandish stripes on the front.

These uniforms are just so bad. At least you will always remember what they look like because it is so bad. But I don’t think that is why they wanted to be remembered.
