What could Arch get that no other Manning has ever gotten before? A Heisman Trophy. What could Lincoln Riley get that no other Oklahoma football coach has ever gotten before? A single football playoff victory. Archie, Peyton and Eli went 0-3 in winning Heisman Trophies during illustrious college careers. Riley has gone 0-3 in College Football Playoff games in three years.
Is this a match made in college football heaven? It would be very weird to see a Manning playing his college ball in Big 12 country, but so would it seeing the Sooners beat Alabama, Clemson or Ohio State with any regulatory in the playoff. It’s a weird pairing that’s probably not going to happen, but one can dream. Landing Manning would be a bigger deal than getting an NBA team.
If there was ever a quarterback capable of throwing for 20,000 yards in college, Arch would be the one to kick great college passers like Case Keenum, Timmy Chang and Landry Jones to the curb. 5,000 yards every year for four years.
Would Manning go to a place like Norman, Oklahoma to play his college ball? Of all the options listed, this feels the least likely. Outside of Patrick Mahomes, most Big 12 quarterbacks bust in the NFL and the Mannings will not want that. Carving up helpless defensive backs in a defense-less conference won’t exactly earn man points in the Manning household either.
