Michigan football recruiting class adds electric 4-star receiver Cristian Dixon

Michigan football envisions a Cristian Dixon to J.J. McCarthy connection.
Michigan football has to be excited about its newest commitment for 2021.
On Thursday, four-star wide receiver Cristian Dixon officially committed to the Michigan Wolverines. Dixon is 6-foot-2 and 187 pounds.
The Mater Dei standout from Santa Ana, California is the No. 22 player from California, the No. 38 receiver in this class and the No. 210 player overall, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Michigan was by far and away his No. 1 preferred destination to play his college ball.
Dixon’s commitment gives Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh 19 hard commits, including five-star quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who plays at IMG Academy in Florida by way of Illinois. The class moves up to the No. 6 spot on the 247Sports Team Rankings.
Dixon is the latest four-star recruit to commit to Michigan and has the fifth-best grade of anyone in the Wolverines’ 2021 class. Best of all, McCarthy has someone great to throw the ball to in Ann Arbor.

Cristian Dixon is a great addition to the Michigan football recruiting class.
Under Harbaugh, Michigan has come back to semi-national relevancy. The Wolverines are no longer the hopeless grease fire they used to be under former head coach Brady Hoke. With Harbaugh in charge, Michigan regularly wins nine or 10 games. The problem is the Wolverines haven’t beaten the Ohio State Buckeyes in close to a decade. Something’s gotta give here.
Though the defense has been solid under Harbaugh’s watch, the offense has been rather antiquated and uninspiring. It’s especially troubling given that Harbaugh played the quarterback position at a high level collegiately at Michigan and in the NFL before embarking on his impressive coaching career. But by adding McCarthy and now Dixon, maybe things can change for Michigan?
After watching a handful of Dixon’s highlights, it’s clear why a top-tier program like Michigan would want him. He has a knack for beating any cornerback off the line of scrimmage with both speed and physicality. Dixon is a great route runner and has no problem with going over the middle. He can be counted on to go over the top as well. He’s the total package at wide receiver.
Though it is still insanely early in the recruiting process, Michigan has to like where things are going with its 2021 class. The Wolverines project to have the second-best class in the Big Ten again behind Ohio State. While that’s not great, moving into the top-10 at No. 6 and up from No. 14 from a season ago certainly is. This recruiting class is starting to come into form.
