San Francisco remains the class of arguably the NFL’s best division.

The San Francisco 49ers will face their share of challenges as they attempt to repeat as NFC West division champions and Conference champions in 2020.

San Francisco plays in arguably the premier division in the NFL. The 49ers won the division by an inch last season in a dramatic finale with the Seattle Seahawks and, with the Arizona Cardinals a team on the rise, competition for the title will be typically fierce.

Having let a fourth-quarter 10-point lead slip in their Super Bowl LIV defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers will also have a potential Super Bowl hangover to contend with during their bid to retain divisional supremacy.

An extra challenge was thrown their way with the news wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who was integral to their Super Bowl run last year, suffered a Jones’ fracture in his foot. Samuel is hopeful he will be ready for the start of the season following surgery but his availability for Week 1, assuming the season starts on schedule, can be considered in doubt.

Yet the Niners remain the favorites to qualify for the postseason as division champions. Here we look at five reasons why San Francisco will retain the NFC West in 2020.
