Juventus has hired Italian soccer legend Andrea Pirlo to be its next manager.

After firing Maurizio Sarri on Saturday morning following being eliminated from the Champions League tournament, the Juventus front office members in Turin have wasted absolutely no time in finding his replacement.

Italian fans everywhere can rejoice, as a national hero is set to take over as manager. Just hours after Sarri was sacked, Juventus has reportedly hired Andrea Pirlo, one of the greatest midfielders to ever play the game, to replace him.

Andrea Pirlo will be the new head coach for Juventus after starring for the team from 2011 to 2015

Hiring former players has become a common trend for soccer teams. Just recently, we’ve seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer take over at Manchester United, Frank Lampard hired by Chelsea and Arsenal bringing in Miguel Arteta alone in the English Premier League.

Now for the Serie A, Pirlo will return to the sidelines as coach and travel to stadiums he used to dominate on a weekly basis when he was a player. The former midfielder starred for Juventus from 2011-2015, making more than 100 appearances with the club.

With the Italian national squad, Pirlo played in 116 games and scored 13 goals. He also helped the team win the World Cup back in 2006.

While no official statement has been made by the club, soccer fans across the world know things are rock solid when insider Fabrizio Romano tweets his popular ‘here we go’ line.

After shockingly being eliminated by Lyon in the Champions League on Friday, less than 24 hours later Juventus fans have every reason to smile. Pirlo is coming home and will look to help the team go on a deep run in the Champions League come 2021.
