Mike Nolan can’t handle condiments, let alone the Cowboys defense
What burns more, hot sauce or watching the Cowboys defense struggle? Let’s ask Mike Nolan.
At some point, the jokes write themselves when talking about the Dallas Cowboys defense. However, Mike Nolan’s recent run-in with a fiery substance takes the cake. Or maybe taco.
According to Clarence Hill Jr., Nolan had to pause his Monday afternoon presser after getting Tabasco sauce in his eye. And no, your eyes did not deceive you as his did; it actually happened.
Nolan’s laundry list of problems is making his seat hotter than the sauce that resides in his pupils. After failing to transform a talented unit into one of the league’s best, the team has only regressed more with each passing week. Seven games into the season, the team ranks in the bottom 10 in total yards allowed, yards per game, rushing yards per game (178.3) and points per game (34.7).
The Cowboys allowed 25 points to the former 1-4 Washington Football Team Sunday on the road. Trevon Diggs looked the part of a rookie in coverage against Terry McLaurin while the pass rush tallied two sacks for a loss of only five yards. Meanwhile, Washington’s run game exploded as Antonio Gibson finished with a season-best 128 yards on the ground and a score.
Will the Cowboys be sellers at the trade deadline?
The team is now making players such as Everson Griffen available on the trade market before the deadline on Nov. 3. Meanwhile, Nolan continues to find ways for the once formidable unit to blow coverage and watch lesser teams torch them on their way to victory.
However, how does one not realize there’s a fiery liquid on their finger? Trusting Nolan to lead a defense to success is one thing, but is trusting him to make sure the condiments land on the food might be out of the question right?
Someone better add the hot sauce to his turkey melt moving forward before this becomes a lingering problem.
