The Giants returned from their off week and headed to MetLife Stadium looking for its ninth consecutive victory over the rival Eagles. But the Birds were down 7-0 less than four minutes into the game and never caught up. Carson Wentz was sacked three times and fumbled twice but Philadelphia did not turn over the football. But either did the Giants, who rolled up 382 total yards – including 151 yards on the ground – against Jim Schwartz’s defense.

Big Blue has been making stride and the team was in the midst of a stretch in which their previous five games had been decided by a total of 10 points. On Sunday, the Giants looked to avoid being swept by the Eagles for the fourth consecutive year. Daniel Jones threw for 244 yards and also ran nine times for 64 yards and the game’s first touchdown. After their previous five games had been decided by a total of 10 points, the Giants won by that total.

Matt Patricia’s club was overwhelmed by the Minnesota ground game last Sunday but returned to the Motor City to face Washington. The Lions were riding a seven-game home losing streak but owned a 17-3 lead at intermission thanks in part to a pair of Matthew Stafford TD passes. That lead swelled to 21 points before Washington mounted a huge comeback to tie the score. Matt Prater’s 59-yard field goal on the game’s final play gave Detroit the win.
