College football DFS quarterback picks December 5:

Top Tier:

I’m never going to be the one to tell you not to play Justin Fields, but it is really hard to recommend him without knowing who will and will not be active for the Buckeyes. Besides, Michigan State’s pass defense has been strong. They have more interceptions than touchdowns allowed through the air and are only allowing 238 yards per game. Some of it is the competition, but not all. There are better places to go here.

Tennessee’s pass defense hasn’t been that bad either, but when Kyle Trask is on the brink of breaking SEC records, it doesn’t much matter. Still, if I’m paying this much for a quarterback, I want the money matchup too. J.T. Daniels appears to have that in Vanderbilt. This Georgia offense is humming right now and it has almost everything to do with Daniels.

The sneaky play in the top tier could be Sam Ehilinger. Yeah, I know. I’ve been saying that he’s overpriced all year. Kansas State has allowed 267 passing yards per game and 18 touchdowns through the air in nine contests. They are also allowing nearly 160 rushing yards a game and 13 rushing touchdowns. There is a path to a big game from Ehlinger.

Middle Tier:

Brennan Armstrong has really been on a roll lately for the Hoos. The Boston College defense is solid, but not spectacular. Armstrong is the Virginia offense and has some nice upside in what could be a high scoring affair.

The job is all Jack Plummer’s now, and it’s a good job to have. Nebraska’s defense hasn’t been the problem, but the offense keeps putting the defense is bad situations. I’d use Plummer before Mond in the middle tier on this slate.

Max Duggan’s stats are a lot of smoke and mirrors. The TCU offense has been pedestrian at best against good teams. Look more at Bailey Hockman against a Georgia Tech team that has allowed a staggering 274.5 passing yards per game and 21 passing touchdowns in just eight games. Hockman could be in for a big game at a low price.

Bargain Shoppers:

Virginia is usually known for good defense. That hasn’t been the case this year. The Hoos have allowed 289 passing yards per game. The 14 touchdowns in eight games isn’t a huge issue, but I’ll take the loads of yards Phil Jurkovec can pick up on this defense.

I usually don’t run guys at the Iowa State defense, but Jarret Doege seems cheap. The Bowling Green transfer had a rough start to the season and with all of the cancellations, found it hard to get into a rhythm. He has been able to of late though and should be good for around 20 DraftKings points at a low price. There’s not a lot of upside though.

Will Howard has just one 200 yard passing game in seven starts, but this Texas defense has been shredded through the air. This is a big risk, but Howard is cheap enough to throw a dart with.
