Mitchell Trubisky credited his teammates with his improvements after reassuming the starting role.

The Chicago Bears looked as dead as a doornail after their 5-1 start, as Nick Foles and Mitch Trubisky were both floundering at quarterback.

Luckily, Chicago’s dominant win over the Houston Texans, spearheaded by a Trubisky masterpiece, has some Bears fans thinking that they could potentially sneak into the postseason. Trubisky deflected most of the praise coming his way, instead choosing to credit his teammates.

Trubisky credited the 10 guys alongside him on offense for his sudden uptick in production, as Matt Nagy and the Bears finally showed some signs of life after losing six consecutive games.

Mitchell Trubisky is likely auditioning for a role elsewhere in 2021

We all know the story by now, Trubisky was picked second overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, over the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson.

While many figured his midseason benching for Nick Foles was the last time anyone would ever see him in a Bears uniform, Trubisky has picked up the pace after being reinserted as the starter, throwing seven touchdowns against just two interceptions in the last three games, including the demolition of Watson and the Texans.

The Bears are finally starting to help out their struggling quarterbacks on offense. David Montgomery’s 80-yard touchdown run was the best play of his two-season career, and a much-scorned offensive line is starting to protect whoever is under center at a much more efficient clip.

Trubisky will likely be somewhere else as a backup next season considering how sweeping changes are expected in Chicago this offseason, but ending this year on a high note will help increase his value.

If he continues to play at this level, he might have enough leverage to sign with a team on which he could compete for a starting job, a possibility that seemed unthinkable just a few weeks ago.
