Video: Joc Pederson gets hilarious gift from teammates after first home run with Cubs
By Scott Rogust
The Chicago Cubs gave outfielder Joc Pederson a gift after hitting his first home run with the team on Wednesday.
In spring training, new Chicago Cubs outfielder Joc Pederson hit eight home runs through 18 games. Through the first five games of the 2021 regular-season, Pederson was not only without a home run, but also hitless. Some streaks are meant to come to an end eventually, and that is what happened during Wednesday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Following Lorenzo Cain’s solo home run in the top of the eighth inning, Pederson tied things up in the bottom of the frame by hitting one of his own off pitcher Devin Williams. As Pederson arrived in the dugout, his Cubs teammates offered him the gift of…a waffle maker!

Cubs: Joc Pederson records his first home run with Chicago
Now that is what we call express shipping.
Pederson’s home run was truly impressive, as he recorded his bomb against the 2020 NL Rookie of the Year. That is no easy feat. It certainly helps Chicago’s stats, as the team have had trouble getting hits through the first week of the season. Pederson’s home run could not have come at a better time.
With his first home run in the books, Pederson can officially celebrate with some waffles on Thursday morning.
