5 teams that should trade for Collin Sexton

The New York Knicks will have a guard worth packing Madison Square Garden for
Yes, it may be within the conference, but the New York Knicks need better guard play if they want Madison Square Garden to ever be Eden again. Derrick Rose is nice coming off the bench, but the Tom Thibodeau disciple will be a free agent this summer. He may return on a new deal, but there is no way he will start all 82 games for the 2021-22 Knicks at the point guard position whatsoever.
The idea behind trading for Sexton is he could be one of the Knicks’ two best players on a top-four team in the Eastern Conference alongside power forward Julius Randle. Because Sexton is the younger of the two players, his upside has not been fully tapped into yet. Plus, he could become a much-improved defensive player while playing a ton of minutes for Thibodeau.
So who could go the Cavaliers’ way in a deal of this magnitude? How about Obi Toppin and a pick or two? Toppin starred in-state for the Dayton Flyers before being a top-10 pick by the Knicks a year ago. He is promising, but did not see a ton of playing time in his rookie year out of Dayton. Rebuilding Cleveland would offer more minutes, while contending New York gives Sexton his new stage.
Overall, there will be even more teams than this who would kick the tires on a Sexton trade with the Cavaliers. They will have to give up either a comparable starter or future draft compensation. Cleveland holds all the cards in these trade scenarios. With this much interest surrounding the combo guard, look for the Cavaliers to make the best decision before trading him this offseason.
What other teams should put themselves firmly into the Sexton trade sweepstakes this summer?
