What is the Cubs longest losing streak?
What is the Chicago Cubs longest losing streak in the entire history of the franchise? It’s a question fans want to know amind the latest Cubs losing streak.
It goes without saying, but it’s been a rough, just devastating stretch of games for the Chicago Cubs. Entering the Wednesday night tilt with the Philadelphia Phillies, the Cubs have somehow managed to lose 11 straight games.
What in the heck is going on with David Ross’s men? Thanks to their horrible slide, the Cubs are now 8.5 games back of the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the NL Central standings. They need to wake up and fast.
How long was the longest Cubs losing streak?
Believe it or not, this 11-game losing streak isn’t the record for Chicago. Back in 1997, the Cubs ended up losing 14 straight. Obviously, the last thing anyone wants to see – other than Cardinals fans maybe – is for Chicago to lose again on Wednesday and come one step closer to tying the record.
Straight up, Chicago has struggled both with its pitching and hitting. Jake Arrieta continues to absolutely blow it whenever he’s on the bump, while the bats really have disappointed. None of the star players are hitting even close to .300. Kris Bryant is hitting .270, while Anthony Rizzo’s .246 average and Javier Baez’s .234 is not what anyone saw coming.
In a year that started off with so much promise for the Cubs, things have gone south and fast. Who knows, maybe the All-Star break is just what this team needs to get their mental game strong. You never know if a second-half run is on the way for the Wrigley Field side.
For now, though, the Cubs just need to limp their way to the finish line before that break does arrive. The sooner they can get a win on the books, the better.
