2021 NFL power rankings, Week 6: Cowboys hot, Raiders not
Mike Zimmer’s struggling team outgained the visiting Lions by almost 100 yards (384-288) but Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota offense only reached the end zone once. And Detroit would suddenly take a one-point lead with 37 seconds to play.
But Cousins lead the team downfield on a five-play, 46-yard march that set up Greg Joseph’s 54-yard field goal on the final play of the game. The Vikings have now defeated the Lions eight consecutive times.
Mike Tomlin’s team looked to snap a three-game losing streak when they hosted the Broncos on Sunday. And the Steelers’ offense showed plenty of balance as rookie running back Najee Harris ran 23 times for 122 yards and one score.
Ben Roethlisberger threw for 253 yards, 50 on a first-quarter TD pass to Diontae Johnson, and was sacked just once. Pittsburgh owned a 24-6 in the third quarter and held off a rally by Teddy Bridgewater and company.
For the second straight week, the NFC West was involved in a round robin between the four clubs in the division. This time around, the Seahawks hosted the Rams on Thursday night. And the team that entered Week 5 allowing the most total yards in the league gave up 476 yards to Sean McVay’s club. Seattle lost for the third time in four games.
Russell Wilson figures to be out four to eight weeks (via Brady Henderson of ESPN) after finger surgery.
