Bowl projections 2021: What bowl game will Notre Dame play in?
By John Buhler
Notre Dame football fans should expect to see their Fighting Irish playing in the New Year’s Six.
While the Notre Dame football team is on the outside looking in at the College Football Playoff, the Fighting Irish are gearing up towards yet another trip to the New Year’s Six.
Brian Kelly’s team improved to 10-1 on the season with a 55-0 win over Georgia Tech in South Bend. The Irish may have to travel across the country to play Stanford on Thanksgiving Weekend, but anything less than a Week 13 victory will be news to everyone.
While conference championship games are going on, independent Notre Dame will be 11-1.
With a very strong regular-season record, what bowl game will the Fighting Irish be playing in?
Notre Dame bowl projections have Fighting Irish playing Pittsburgh in the Peach Bowl
The consensus has the Golden Domers playing the Pittsburgh Panthers in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl. This is the projection CBS Sports and Sporting News have. USA TODAY Sports had the Irish playing Wake Forest in the Peach Bowl, but that is probably not happening now.
ESPN has Notre Dame playing in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl. Kyle Bonagura has the Fighting Irish facing Cincinnati in a rematch, while Mark Schlabach has them taking on a traditional rival in the Michigan Wolverines.
The 2021 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will be played on Dec. 30 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. ET. ESPN will carry the game, as will the ESPN app. While this game does not have any conference affiliations tied to it, the expectation is Notre Dame will take on the ACC champion in Atlanta, as the Orange Bowl is a national semifinal game this season.
Look for many Notre Dame fans to head south to Atlanta to see the Irish in this year’s Peach Bowl.
