Bob Stoops drops truth bomb on Steve Sarkisian’s first year at Texas: ‘A complete disaster’

Former Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops made his thoughts known on how Steve Sarkisian’s first season with the Texas Longhorns should be seen.
Bob Stoops is a legendary college head coach. He’s seen and experienced all sorts of success throughout his coaching career, much of which was spent winning at a very high level that he was able to sustain for years with the Oklahoma Sooners.
Stoops knows what it’s like to be a winner. He’s also able to easily identify when a team is struggling and what’s going on. With the Texas Longhorns, it doesn’t take being a college coaching legend to know there’s something going wrong. That’s observable from space.
But Stoops offered an interesting critical look at how things have gone during Steve Sarkisian’s first season in Austin.
As The Dallas Morning News reports, Stoops was very critical of the Texas football program from top to bottom. According to The Dallas Morning News, Stoops said the following prior to Texas’ win over the Kansas State Wildcats on Friday: “This is a complete disaster. The administration, the coaches, the players, they’ve got to all own up to it. That’s their responsibility.”

Stoops isn’t wrong.
The Longhorns are a mess and that’s true even with a close win over the Wildcats. Going just 5-7 on the year, Sarkisian likely underachieved this season and Texas fans are furious with how this year has gone. The Longhorns won’t be bowling and there’s no real reason to believe that next season will be a drastic improvement over this current one.
But maybe the administration, coaches, and players will accept responsibility for this “complete disaster,” as Stoops suggested they do. Maybe we’ll see this team improve considerably next season.
