Villanova beats Ohio State to reach Sweet 16: Updated March Madness bracket

After taking care of the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament, the Villanova Wildcats are headed back to the Sweet 16.

After taking care of business against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the NCAA Tournament, Villanova, a 2-seed in the tournament, is advancing on.

The Buckeyes, a seven seed, managed to put up a pretty good fight against Villanova. While Ohio State ultimately lost by double digits, there were moments where this looked like a pretty close game.

However, Villanova pulled away at the end and won by a score of 71-61.

Villanova improves to 18-3 in the last six NCAA Tournaments, including their two national championships. Could a third be coming in early April?

Villanova is moving on to the Sweet 16 where they’ll meet Juwan Howard’s resurgent Michigan Wolverines who are coming off an upset of the Tennessee Volunteers in the Round of 32.

Who does Villanova play next in NCAA Tournament?

Having bested one prominent Big Ten team in the NCAA Tournament, the Wildcats are now set to face another.

Interestingly enough, had the Buckeyes managed to beat Villanova, Ohio State would have been presented with an opportunity to face off against their rival. Instead, the Wildcats will get the pleasure of playing the Michigan Wolverines in the Sweet 16.

Michigan, an 11-seed, enters into this Sweet 16 matchup against Villanova after having beaten the 6-seed Colorado State Rams and then the 3-seed Tennessee Volunteers in the second round of the tournament.

The Wildcats and Wolverines are slated to play each other on Thursday, though the exact time for the game hasn’t been set yet. Michigan and Villanova will play in the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
