The Saint Peter’s Peacocks made March Madness history as the first 15-seed to make the Elite Eight — but how many brackets had that pick in them?

You could make the argument that the biggest cinderella run in March Madness history is happening right before our eyes thanks to the efforts of the Saint Peter’s Peacocks.

First, the 15-seed out of the MAAC upset Kentucky in the First Round, busting many brackets in the process. The Peacocks then pulled off another upset as they ousted Murray State to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16. On Friday night, though, the small New Jersey university made history as they pulled off another upset, knocking off Purdue and becoming the first 15-seed to ever make the Elite Eight.

It’s an improbable run for Saint Peter’s, one that almost no one saw coming. And the brackets submitted prove that very much.

Saint Peter’s makes Elite Eight: How many March Madness brackets picked the Peacocks?

Just how many people picked Saint Peter’s to make the Elite Eight in their March Madness bracket? According to the official NCAA March Madness account, of the millions of submissions, only 0.87 percent of them had the Peacocks making it one game away from the Final Four.

I’d be willing to bet that an even smaller percentage were people who were putting their brackets in some kind of paid pool or contest.

Regardless of if you were part of the 0.87 percent or not, though, college hoops fans have to enjoy every second of this run. This is the type of dream run that the NCAA Tournament is often sold on and we’re seeing possibly the best version ever happen in real time.
