3) MLB rumors: Los Angeles Angels are a growing fit for Xander Bogaerts

The Los Angeles Angels find themselves in the thick of the American League West race with the Houston Astros joining them for the party. They have gotten some great offense from Mike Trout and Taylor Ward. At the shortstop position, Andrew Velazquez has been great defensively and poor at the plate. This is a trend that is probably going to continue.

FanSided’s Robert Murray named the Angels one of the potential fits for Bogaerts in a midseason trade. It makes sense why. They are finally looking like a real threat to win a pennant and will need to boost their offense in order to keep up with the other top teams in the league.

Bogaerts could even potentially become someone the Angels decide to keep around beyond this season. They made some big splashes over the offseason but neglected to do much with the starting lineup. They are a big-spending ball club hoping to finally get over the hump they seem to keep running headfirst into.

With a ton of money committed this year to Trout and third baseman Anthony Rendon, it’s neglectful of the Angels to at least not try and snag one of the best available trade candidates out there for a position of need. Bogaerts can help completely turn around any offense. The Angels shouldn’t wait to see what the price could be.
