Red Sox Rumors: 3 Ideal landing spots for Nathan Eovaldi
These Red Sox rumors would work out great for these next three teams if they were to acquire an ace starting pitcher like Nathan Eovaldi. When healthy, Eovaldi has been pitching way better than his stats show. He may have a 4.43 ERA but that’s more because of the awful defense he has behind him. Eovaldi has 80 strikeouts in 81.1 innings while walking only 14. He’s a proven pitcher with excellent postseason history.
The first team that would be a perfect landing spot for Eovaldi is the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are known to be on the hunt for starting pitchers. They desperately need it as their only two regular starters that are healthy are Adam Wainwright and Miles Mikolas. Waino is 41 too. Who knows if Jack Flaherty would be able to pitch again this year?
Eovaldi could immediately give this rotation a No. 3 pitcher while helping them catch the Brewers for the playoffs. In the postseason, he would be a strong starter for them.
A second team for Eovaldi is the Minnesota Twins. They are known to be on the hunt for starting pitching as well as they only have two reliable arms — those being Joe Ryan and Sonny Gray. Eovaldi would provide a huge boost to their rotation to help them win the division. With his postseason track record, he will help them win a playoff series for the first time in a while. Plus, he would be much cheaper than Montas or Mahle.
A third team that is lying to itself about being a contender but is seeking help in the rotation is the Chicago White Sox. Lance Lynn and Lucas Giolito haven’t been pitching like themselves. This has left elder Johnny Cueto and Dylan Cease to handle the workload. Eovaldi would give them a reliable No.3/4 pitcher who could help them overcome their injury/underperformance woes. This would be a strong move to acquire a rental pitcher who could help them get to the playoffs. The White Sox can’t avoid wasting a prime year of contention for their young squad.
