Nebraska fired Scott Frost in the most disrespectful way possible
By John Buhler
The Scott Frost era of Nebraska football is finally over after a home loss to Georgia Southern.
After falling at home to the Georgia Southern Eagles, the Nebraska football team will no longer be led by head coach Scott Frost.
Nebraska athletic director and Cornhuskers football legend Trev Alberts was left with no choice in the matter. He probably did not want to do it, but Nebraska had to fire Frost after the Cornhuskers fell to 1-2 on the season with a tough home loss to Georgia Southern. It was so bad in Lincoln that Nebraska was willing to pay Frost an additional $7.5 million before his buyout dropped on Oct. 1.
In an NFL Sunday kickoff news dump, Nebraska fired Frost in the most disrespectful way possible.
Nebraska fires former head coach Scott Frost in most disrespectful way possible
After dominating at UCF, a two-year run culminating in a 13-0 season with the 2017 Knights, Frost went a disastrous 16-31 leading his alma mater’s football program. The former Tom Osborne era quarterback never won more than five games in a season in Lincoln. He went 10-26 in Big Ten play, never going to a bowl game and never winning more than five games in a season.
Fate would have it, another former Cornhuskers quarterback will be taking over for Frost in the interim with Mickey Joseph now in charge of the program. While Nebraska has a great football tradition and incredible fans, it remains to be seen what type of head coach they could be getting to replace Frost for next season. For now, the Cornhuskers have a huge head start in that matter.
Candidates for the job include Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops, Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell, Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze, Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders and former head coach Urban Meyer. Turning around the Cornhuskers is not going to be easy, but look for Alberts to get his guy. This will be the biggest hire of his athletic director career by a huge margin.
Nebraska fans can exhale because the pain and suffering associated with Frost is finally over.
