6. It’s Aidan Hutchinson and Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. Everybody

You don’t have to be a fan of Detroit to want to see this franchise win football games.

The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off a Super Bowl run. The Cleveland Browns just broke an 18-year season opener losing streak. Most of the league’s losing franchises have built up their rosters to have some level of success in the past decade.

The Detroit Lions haven’t won a playoff game since 1991.

Aside from that, this is the team that combined Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson and still wasn’t able to push past the Wild Card round. Needless to say, the city of Detroit has the biggest chip on their shoulder, and rightfully so. The world seems ready to look past what Detroit has to offer, hence the tagline “Detroit vs. Everybody.”

Then, Detroit drafted Aidan Hutchinson and got the ball to Amon-Ra St. Brown, and everything changed.

The Lions scored 36 points on Sunday. Thirty-six.

A touchdown in each quarter.

Amon-Ra had 184 total yards: 116 receiving and 68 rushing.

And Hutchinson at home? Three sacks, six total tackles, two tackles for a loss, three quarterback hits. Aidan was a force to be reckoned with on Sunday, and his lifelong love of the Lions only makes his early success there even more prolific.

After all, Aidan is Michigan’s son, and Amon-Ra is named after ancient Egypt’s Sun God.

It’s hard not to root for this Hard Knocks team who has been down on their luck since Detroit has been in the NFL. But if Aidan and Amon-Ra are a glimpse of the future, these stars sure do make it seem bright.
