Bryce Young injury: Slow-motion replay should concern Alabama fans (Video)
By Mark Powell
Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young appeared to injure his shoulder against Arkansas on Saturday afternoon. The replay didn’t look great.
Young is among the top-3 Heisman frontrunners, and for good reason. He’s also a projected first-round NFL Draft pick, if not top-10.
So, forgive me when I say that any scratch on his body is rather large news.
Against Arkansas, Young appeared to hurt his upper arm and/or shoulder on one of two plays. First, Young scrambled out of the pocket and was tackled on this play.
The very next play, Young tried to make a normal throw, but went to the medical tent shortly thereafter. He was clearly frustrated.
Bryce Young injury: Should Alabama fans be worried?
Young’s backup quarterback is Jalen Milroe, so in his absence, this is who will lead the offense. The Crimson Tide are talented enough to survive a brief Young injury, but anything that forces him out for some time would absolutely impact their SEC and National Championship hopes.
Of course, we’re a long way from that.
Head coach Nick Saban gave fans a little bit of an update while heading back for halftime.
“He’s got a shoulder injury. I don’t know the extent of it, I don’t know how bad it is. They worked on him inside, so I’ll probably see when we go in,” Saban said on the CBS broadcast.
Young is questionable to return but was spotted warming up at half time.
