3. Monster SF Giants free agent target: Carlos Correa

Dansby Swanson and Xander Bogaerts would be good signings for the Giants, too. However, Carlos Correa has a lot more flavor to him. He has been in the spotlight for both good and bad reasons. He is the kind of player that would change a franchise’s future a little more. Plus, he’s arguably the best fielder. Even the things the Giants may have loved about Crawford the most are answered.

Correa was a huge free agent last offseason who had a few nibbles. He eventually signed a lucrative short-term contract with the Minnesota Twins and will most definitely opt out of the deal as soon as possible. It just didn’t work out for either side.

Correa may have overplayed how much he thought he should earn in free agency last offseason. The idea of a $300+ million deal may have passed him by. However, a $250 million payday could come his way especially if a team like the Giants decides to open up the vault.

There are a variety of teams that should be going after Correa this offseason. From the Baltimore Orioles who are hoping to finally start challenging for a playoff spot to the Chicago Cubs who are simply hoping to get back to where they were not so long ago, the destinations for him are lengthy.
