2. Contreras’ already asking about life as a Cardinal

The chances of Contreras joining the Cardinals are also heightened by the fact that he had discussions with close friend Jose Quintana about the team last month. With that, he received positive reports about the club’s culture, so naturally, that will surely make him at least consider the prospect of joining their squad via free agency.

When a player is having open discussions about a specific team as they are about to hit the free-agent market, it’s clear that they are at least somewhat interested in signing there. When remembering that the Cardinals are looking for a Molina replacement, the feeling must be mutual at this juncture in time.

It’s hard not to pay attention to this report at the end of the day. It appears that this is a situation where the ball is in St. Louis’ court, and they would be quite wise to take advantage of that.
