1. Moises Gomez could be on the Cardinals trade block

The Rays system released Gomez in October 2021. The Cardinals signed him in November 2021. Gomez is hitting .261 with an RBI this spring, but the number 14 prospect in the Cardinals system is getting plenty of playing time.

With Tyler O’Neill and Lars Nootbaar participating in the WBC, Marmol is giving Gomez plenty of opportunity to play. Dylan Carlson has been working to gain muscle and improve at the plate and outfield. Jordan Walker has been excellent and will likely make his way onto the Cardinals’ Opening Day roster, and Juan Yepez and Alec Burleson are also outfield possibilities.

With so many Major League-ready outfielders, Gomez could spend his summer in either Springfield or Memphis improving at the plate and finding his place in the outfield.

If he keeps improving, he could likely garner interest from teams looking for a young hitter with loads of potential. Gomez could be flipped for a significant need down the stretch.
