NFL Rumors: OBJ is turning New York against itself in free agency

Odell Beckham Jr. remains the hottest wide receiver target on the free agent market with New York standing out as a prime destination. It’s just not apparent which team will bring him back home to the Big Apple.

On Monday, owner John Mara told reporters that the Giants “haven’t closed that door” on signing OBJ. Actually, he would “be in favor of that,” per Rob Maaddi of the AP. The hard part is getting a deal done obviously.

The Giants aren’t the only team in New York looking to woo the wide receiver. Jets head coach Robert Saleh and GM Joe Douglas both confirmed the team’s interest in Beckham as well.

Douglass told reporters that his team has had “productive” conversations with Beckham’s agent, per Andy Vasquez of NJ.com.

So it sounds like Beckham really could end up back in New York four years since he left for Cleveland. The pressure on both teams is ramped up because missing on OBJ could mean watching him end up with the in-city rival. It’s up to him to decide if he’ll be wearing Giants blue or Jets green.
