The New York Yankees desperately need help offensively until Aaron Judge returns. This help could come from a trade with the Cubs for Cody Bellinger.

The New York Yankees are in desperate search of offensive production as they look to pull themselves out of the bottom of the AL East. With as much money as they’re willing to spend and a deep prospect pool, the possibilities are endless for the Bronx Bombers. They may not have to look any further than the Cubs outfielder Cody Bellinger.

Yankees rumors: The list of cons starts and ends with the price tag attached to Bellinger

There are pros and cons to any move made in professional sports. The list of cons, in this situation, is a short one, as well as being hypothetical to an extent. The biggest potential con in this deal is how expensive Bellinger could be to acquire from the Cubs. The outfielder is hitting much better this year than he has in years past and he would be dealt as more than a rental, coming with a team option for the 2024 season. The trade would be held up at the price tag the Cubs put on acquiring the former MVP.

Yankees rumors: The list of pros is a long one if the Yankees acquire Cody Bellinger

Where should we start on the list of pros for the Yankees in this deal?

Cody Bellinger would come in and immediately lead the Yankees in a ton of offensive categories. His bat would fit perfectly in the middle of the New York lineup, giving them a left-handed power bat to slot between their plethora of everyday righties. Bellinger alone wouldn’t be a solve-all to every issue for the Yankees, but he would be a tremendous place to start.

Pair this addition with the return of Aaron Judge, Carlos Rodon getting his footing, and another couple of trade deadline deals and Aaron Boone’s team would look as good as new in 2023.
