Former LSU Tigers defensive back Tyrann Mathieu has been on the comeback trail and trying to put his troubled past behind him after being dismissed from the team because of drug related issues last summer. Mathieu impressed scouts at the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine, and now he will take his redemption tour on the road for some private workouts with team’s around the league.

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the first teams that have been leaked as a potential landing spot for Mathieu and a team that has conducted a private workout with the former Heisman finalist.

Mathieu sent out a tweet about the punt returning session during the workout with the Bengals:

Mathieu would be a great fit in Cincinnati and could greatly contribute in the return game. The man formerly known as “The Honey Badger” can also come in an contribute as a slot corner.

If you are looking for a round to select Mathieu in, the mid-rounds would provide the best value.

Teams will have to do their homework and make sure that Mathieu is a changed and mature man, but if he can keep it together off-the-field he will be an excellent addition to a NFL team’s roster.
