NFL fans are going to have to wait to get their hands on the 2013 regular season schedule. It was initially reported that the league would announce the schedule on Tuesday, April 16 during a live special on the NFL Network, but plans have changed while the final details are being ironed out.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed to Pro Football Talk that the schedule release would not be on April 16 and he noted that a date for the release has not yet been determined.

It will not be tomorrow but could be in the next week or two,” Aiello told PFT. “We’re working to finalize it.”

It is a tough task for NFL senior V.P. of broadcasting and media operations Howard Katz to sort out the schedule and not one that I am envious of. There are now far too many prime time games and and weekly possibilities that the work involved would be unbearable.

One thing we do know about the 2013 NFL schedule: the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens will open the year on the road.
