The inevitable has finally happened. Early this morning it was reported that the New York Jets had given star cornerback Darrelle Revis permission to meet with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a physical in a move that would all but finalize the trade.

Now, once that physical is complete, Revis will be the newest member of the Buccaneers.

Here is the report from SportsCenter on Twitter:

Tampa Bay is also expected to send a third- and fifth-round pick to the Jets as part of the compensation package.

The focus will now turn to what the Jets will do with the No. 9 and No. 13 picks.

New York is desperate for playmakers on both sides of the ball, so it would not be surprising to see them target wide receiver Tavon Austin and then either the best pass rusher or cornerback available. Barkevious Mingo of LSU would be an option as an outside linebacker, while Florida State’s Xavier Rhodes is a solid option at corner.

For Tampa Bay, they get a shutdown corner that they were lacking, and certainly a player that is better than anyone they could have got with the No. 13 pick.

As for what the Jets do next, we will find that out in a matter of days.
