Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol underwent surgery to remove scar tissue from his patellar tendons in both knees and the procedure was completed on Thursday. The Lakers made an announcement on Gasol’s successful surgery and his recovery time moving forward.

Gasol underwent what is called the FAST Technique procedure.

From the Lakers official press release:

"During the procedure, which was performed by Dr. Steve Yoon of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group, a probe was inserted into Gasol’s knees, which directed ultrasound wavelengths to debride degenerated tissue of Gasol’s patellar tendons non-surgically. Gasol will also receive autologous stem cell injections, which will stimulate regeneration of his tissue. The injections will be administered next week at Kerlan-Jobe by Dr. Yoon."

Gasol is expected to make a full recovery in three months and resume basketball activity. Next week, Gasol is also set to undergo receive stem cell injections to help regenerate his tissue.

The next question for Gasol is not whether or not he will be ready for the start of the season, he will, the question is where he will be playing. There is some doubt about whether Gasol will return to the Lakers and a lot of that will hinge on the future of Dwight Howard when free agency starts.
