NBA Draft 2013: Alex Len Could Be New Favorite for No. 1 Pick
By Josh Hill
The Cleveland Cavaliers still have the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft firmly in their possession and have been unable to find a trade they’re willing to accept that would change that. So it looks like they’re for now picking in the top spot and it’s also looking like Alex Len may have moved atop the leaderboard in terms of players the Cav’s may end up taking.
According to Bob Finnan of The News-Herald in Cleveland, the Cav’s have met with Alex Len and he may be the new favorite to be drafted first overall on Draft night.
"Maryland center Alen Len (7-1, 255) spent Thursday and Friday visiting with the Cavs, a source confirmed. He’s shed his crutches after having surgery on his ankle. He could be the new favorite for the No. 1 pick."
Nerlens Noel and Otto Porter are two other names regarded as top prospects in the draft and both have been in the discussion for the No. 1 pick. Let’s not forget that the Cavaliers aren’t afraid to make bold choices as well as right ones. They drafted LeBron James, which was the obvious choice but they also drafted shooting guard Dion Waiters last season which took a lot of people by surprise.
Len has been kicked around as a guy who could go No. 1 overall and he’s back atop the leaderboard once again. As we’ve seen tenfold this offseason, things can change like an every shifting wind when it comes to who is the top choice and that appears to be a trend continuing yet again with Len being pegged as the potential top pick.
