Getting a tattoo of your favorite sports franchise seems like a good idea at first, but so often, for whatever reason they end up looking, well, bad. It’s not so much the idea was poor, just the execution.

That can’t be said for this awesome San Francisco 49ers tattoo which not only features the franchise word script, it also pays homage to their player history.

While many probably would have opted to pay homage to the Niners impressive Super Bowl history, this particular tat went off the script and did so in a pretty amazing way.

From left to right, the tattoo features Ronnie Lott, Joe Montana, what looks to be John Taylor, Bill Walsh, Patrick Willis, Steve Young, Jerry Rice and Dwight Clark in his famed ‘The Catch’ pose.

If you’re going to get a tattoo of your favorite team/franchise, I say go big – make it unique and make it something that is different from just the typical logo. The end result will look pretty neat, like this:

Even 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis was impressed:

"wow! I can’t say I have ever seen myself tatted on someone before. That’s wild! Thanks"
