Training camp is underway and plenty of players have already suffered what appear to be serious injuries. The latest player to get carted off the practice field is Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who went down during the team’s Saturday afternoon session.

According to Adam Caplan, who covers the Eagles, contributes to ESPN.com and hosts Siruis XM radio, Maclin went down and stayed down for nearly five minutes.

Maclin appeared to have a “knee or leg” injury and was eventually carted off the field.

It would obviously be a devastating loss for the Eagles if Maclin was forced to miss a lengthy period of time. He is the team’s starting wide receiver opposite DeSean Jackson and his presence and skill set would be crucial in new head coach Chip Kelly’s high pace offense.

With a serious injury to Maclin, Arrelious Benn, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper and Greg Salas could be battling it out for a much bigger role in the team’s offense.
