Mark Sanchez fears Jets will place him on IR
By Josh Sanchez
New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez will be out for a few more weeks with a bruised throwing shoulder, but the veteran signal-caller fears he could be out of action for a much longer period of time. According to sources who spoke with USA Today, Sanchez is fearing that the team could place him on the injured reserve list which would end his season — and likely his career with the Jets.
That may be a scary thought to Sanchez at first. but it could all be for the best.
According to the source, Sanchez “believes the organization wants to see him placed on (injured reserve) and be done with him.”
They went on to add that the “organization has turned its back on Mark and is prepared to move on. It is ready to start fresh with Geno.”
Paranoia at it’s finest.
It is still early to determine where Sanchez is in his recovery and it would be hard for the team to justify the move to IR if he can come back in a few weeks, especially when you consider that rookie Geno Smith is very likely to struggle early and often. Of course, maybe the Jets are comfortable just tanking the season, firing Rex Ryan and starting in 2014 with a clean slate.
With this organization, you never know.
