The Houston Texans have two capable running backs at their disposal. The problem for back up running back Ben Tate is that the 2010 NFL Leading Rusher, Arian Foster is ahead of him on the depth chart. The lion’s shares of the snaps and carries have been going to Foster.

Through out the first two weeks of the season it has been Tate who has been more efficient when the ball has come his way.

“First off, I think Arian got better this week. No doubt it my mind. I think Ben was exceptional too,” Kubiak said, via the team’s website. “We’re pretty close there until the end of the game once again. I think they’re both playing real well, I think Arian is catching up so to speak from what the time he has missed, but I think Ben’s playing at an extremely high level right now. It’s important that we continue to give him his touches and we will.”

“I’d like (the carries) to be pretty close right now,” Kubiak said last week, via the Houston Chronicle.

Despite repeated statements that he wanted they called anything but even snaps. Foster carried the ball twice as many times as Tate and played twice as many snaps as Tate.

“Nothing has surprised me about what he is doing,” wide receiver Andre Johnson said, via the Texans’ site. “He has been working his butt off. I am a big fan of Ben.”
