Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew suffered a left ankle strain during the team’s Week 2 loss to the Oakland Raiders, but the team appears optimistic that Jones-Drew will be able to take the field for their Week 3 match up against the Seattle Seahawks.

According to the Florida Times Union, Jacksonville will likely hold Jones-Drew out of practice all week before determining his status for the game, so consider him as a day-to-day option.

If Jones-Drew is unable to go, Justin Forsett and Jordan Todman will split carries in the backfield. Ouch.

Considering the Jaguars are completely overmatched against Seattle and the fact that it is hard to imagine them doing anything against that defensive front, it may be smart to keep him on the sidelines for the game and allow him to get to 100 percent before putting him back on the field.

It is going to be a long season for the Jaguars, and this week’s match up against Seattle should be a painful season to watch. It’s going to get ugly early.
