It has been a rough day for New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith as he has turned the ball over multiple times and shown a strange interest in the wrong endzone, but it didn’t get any worse than his most recent turnover.

To sum it up shortly, Smith recreated his own version of the infamous “Butt Fumble.” However, he added a new twist to the turnover.

Instead of running face first in to the backside of his offensive lineman, Smith was attempting to avoid a rush from Titans defensive lineman Karl Klug when he inexplicably appeared to attempt switching the hand that was on the ball behind his back.

As a result, the ball clipped Smith’s rear end and went falling to the ground.

It wasn’t as epic as Mark Sanchez’s original butt fumble, but this was nearly as big of a failure.

Here is a GIF of the New York Jets 2013 version of the “Butt Fumble”:

To be fair, Smith is just a rookie and he still has plenty to learn.
