The New England Patriots carried tight end Rob Gronkowski on their 53-man roster entering the season in hopes that he would return earlier than if he was placed on the physically-unable to perform list, but so far he has remained on the sidelines.

However, it appears that Gronkowski is on track to return for the Week 6 date and Jay Glazer of FOX Sports has confirmed that is indeed the tight end’s target date.

It really comes as no surprise that Gronkowski is taking his time to return, considering the multiple surgeries to his arm and back this offseason. If he truly wants to help the team out moving forward, he will need to be 100 percent and waiting until Week 6 will work out best for all parties involved.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has had a hard time clicking with the young wide receivers on the roster, so the offense will take a big step forward when his favorite target finally makes his return to the line up.
