It’s been a long and winding road for combo guard Delonte West, and that journey has now reportedly taken him far away from the United States for 2013-2014.

According to the above report from CSN Northwest’s Chris Haynes, West is headed to China for a full season in the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association). We’ve seen several of these deals in the recent past (Wilson Chandler and Kenyon Martin for starters), and it appears that West, if desired, could return to the NBA for a potential playoff run with a willing franchise.

In 432 career NBA games, West has a sparkling 37.2% clip from 3-point distance to go along with 9.7 points, 3.6 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game and high-end defense at either guard spot. However, the former St. Joseph’s guard has been embroiled in all kinds of trouble off the court, and rumors of mental illness have swirled in recent weeks and months.

It is certainly not a lock that West will return to the NBA this season (or ever), but him excelling on any basketball court is probably the most direct path to an NBA job, and this is a solid start toward that goal.
