Trailing the Pittsburgh Steelers by six points just seconds before halftime, the New York Jets were doing everything they could to get themselves in field goal range. They were able to do so thanks to a solid pass from quarterback Geno Smith to wide receiver Stephen Hill, who took a massive hit from Steelers safety Troy Polamalu in the process.
Hill, who broke away from his defender was wide open for a few moments, though Polamalu, who saw Hill break free came across the field and delivered a vicious blow to Hill, who despite that secured the catch and fell out of bounds.
The Jets’ wide receiver rolled over and sat on his knees on the sidelines for a few moments, wiggling his feet in pain before removing his helmet as the medical staff rushed over to him. The play went to an official review, who deemed it a catch which allowed the Jets to pick up a much needed field goal, though, it was certainly a costly catch for Hill.
There’s no word on if he sustained an injury or if he’ll be available come the second half.
