I’m as guilty as anybody when it comes to getting irritated with umpires and referees.

By no stretch do they have an easy job, especially those who work their way up through rec leagues and minor leagues to eventually find themselves in a professional setting.

That’s exactly what an umpire was doing during a softball game in October which featured the Cal Cruisers and Minors Gold.

Things were going swell until the Cruisers pitcher walked the bases loaded on a questionable call. A fan in the background can be heard screaming at the homeplate umpire and moments later, what looks to be the coach from the Cruisers makes his way towards the mound where he talks to the pitcher and catcher.

Everything seems to go going smoothly until the catcher squats down to catch the incoming pitch.

Rather than sticking her glove up, the catcher decides to hop out of the way and allows the pitch to hit the umpire directly in the facemask.

Clearly aware of what just happened, the umpire promptly walks off the field and called the game.
