The drama in Washington D.C. is starting to reach a boiling point as news today that Mike Shanahan is benching Daniel Snyder’s BFF Robert Griffin III has intensified rumors that the coach is on his way out. The decision to bench the Redskins franchise quarterback is one the Shanahan alone seems to have made, and it doesn’t look like anyone else in the Redskins organization is on his side.

According to multiple reports, not even Shanahan’s son and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan is agreeing with the decision to bench RGIII this Sunday. Washington Post beat writer Mike Jones tweeted out quotes from Shanahan that seem to suggest the Kyle Shanahan is trying to undermine Mike Shanahan in a possible attempt to kiss up to the man in charge of their jobs.

Can you feel the love in Washington yet? The quotes were taken from Shanahan last week but are becoming even more widespread in the wake of a report from NBC 4 Washington’s Dianna Russini who says that there’s a growing belief that Kyle Shanahan is at the center of the feud between Mike Shanahan and owner Daniel Snyder.

"There’s reason to believe that Kyle Shanahan is what is driving Mike Shanahan to want out as head coach of the Washington Redskins, a couple of strong sources within the organization told News4 Sports."

As if we thought things in Washington couldn’t get any messier than they already were, the whole situation is turning into a warped version of Family Feud. It’s possible that younger Shanahan is trying to make sure that if his father is fired, he doesn’t go with him but things are getting weird in Washington and they’re showing no signs of getting any better anytime soon.
