Chris Johnson admits he may have played his last down as a Titan

There has been some discussion about whether or not the Tennessee Titans would be bringing back running back Chris Johnson next season or whether they would part ways as they look to rebuild the roster.

While we will have to wait a while before knowing if the team will cut Johnson loose, the former 2,000 yard rusher admits that he may have played his last down as a member of the team.

“I gave a thought to that … about this possibly being my last game in a Tennessee uniform,” Johnson said, via the Tennessean. “You know, you give it thought, but at the end of the day, you can’t let that affect how you play in the game. Only I could control the game today. I just put all my focus on that.”

Tennessee will have a new coach in 2014, so they may decide that Johnson will be the focal point of the team’s offense next season, but they could also choose to go in a different direction with a younger group of skill players.

As much as I hate to say it (as a Titans season ticket holder), we should keep CJ until his contract runs out. I would hate to see someone like Houston pick him up and run all over us next year. Hey may not be a 2,000 yard rusher anymore, but I think he has some yards left in him, especially if we rearrange our offensive line. Retaining Munchak on the other hand…I don’t think that was such a good idea. You could see constantly that he held himself without confidence and continuously throughout the season making poor play decisions. Its all nice to say he’s been loyal to the club for a long time, but when it comes down to it, he’s not winning games.

Chris Johnson, is saying this, only reason, because the entire team knows that Munchak wont be fired, to me it felt like if, the organization will keep munchak if he decided to let chris johnson part ways, or keep chris johnson and let go munchak, something must give…now if we sign a great offensive coordinator who can speak up and become a aggressive play caller, why not give keep cj…the man knows how to hit the home run, knows how to block, and knows how to catch out of the back field…who is going to fill up his shoes, if we cut him??…who is out there??…we cant expect a running a back out of fill his shoes, i dnt see it…it must be a veteran..with munch being back, its his job to be a man and head coach to this organization, he did his job as a player…a hall of famer, now do u job as a coach and fire, gray, loggains, and bring back gregg williams as a DC, we wasted a season for gregg williams being a spokesman and not coaching the defense?? he has a ring with saints for a reason, let him run the defense for tennessee, kick gray to the curve…asap!
