Gunners And Liverpool Race For Senegalese Stopper

Arsenal and Liverpool are set to lock horns in  battle to sign highly-rated Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate after he was told he would be allowed to leave the Belgian side before the end of the transfer window, according to the Daily Star.

The 24-year-old has made no secret of his desire to test himself at the highest level in the Premier League and now both Liverpool and Arsenal are looking to make his wish come true.

Should Wenger bring him on board it may pave the way for Thomas Vermaelen to join Italian side Napoli.

Arsenal Quoted Morata Loan Fee

Arsene Wenger has been told that he will have to pay Real Madrid a loan fee of £1.7m if he wants to get his hands on young striker Alvaro Morata during the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The Gunners are desperate to add another face to their forward line and the manager has insisted that he will still be willing to spend big should the right player become available.

Wenger had originally targeted the young Spaniard as a discount option but is still keen bringing him on board.

Gunners Lose Out On Barca Youngster

Arsenal are set to miss out on deal for young Barcelona forward Antonio Sanabria after he announced that he was close to signing a deal that would take him to Roma, Sky Sports reports.

The 17-year-old had refused to sign a new deal with the Spanish champions, even though he has yet to make his first team debut with the side.

However, the Paraguayan international believes he is worthy of more regular first team football and has opted to head to Italy in a bid to get it.

Gunners Costa Chase Hits Snag

Manager Arsene Wenger looks set to be disappointed in his chase for a striker during the new year window as there are a lack of available world class strikers, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Both Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid and Porto’s Jackson Martinez have been the two prominent names linked with the club, but moves for the pair will have to be put on hold as their respective release clauses do not kick in until next season.

However, that will not stop him from making a move for one of them at the end of the season.
