Scary news coming out of Minnesota today as Nashville Predators and Team USA Olympic General Manager David Poile was hit in the face with a puck during the Wild-Predators pregame skate. He has since been transported to an area hospital.

Minnesota beat reporter Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune provided details of the scene.

According to Russo, Poile was walking to the players’ bench from the tunnel when he was struck by an errant pass from Nashville defenseman Shea Weber.

Hopefully is injuries are nothing to severe, and Poile can get back to work as soon as possible. Poile was scheduled to leave this weekend, along with the rest of Team USA, to head to Sochi, Russia for the 2014 Winter Olympic Hockey Tournament. Who knows if he will be able to still fly after taking the puck to the face, but it has to be a good sign that he was able to walk himself over to the stretcher before being taken away for examination.
