While all eyes were affixed to the goings on at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on Friday we had a potential show-stopper as news broke from Pro Football Talk that the San Francisco 49ers had nearly traded their head coach Jim Harbaugh to the Cleveland Browns.
A few minutes after the news began to circulate across league circles NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport had information that refuted the report from Mike Florio at PFT which set off a Twitter exchange between the two with 49ers CEO Jed York putting an end to the Harbaugh talk with an epic response.
In response to @ProFootballTalk report on #Browns nearly trading for Jim Harbaugh, #Niners source calls it “completely false. Ridiculous.”

@RapSheet . . . Your source is lying or misinformed. #justsaying
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) February 21, 2014
@ProFootballTalk it’s actually two high-ranking Niners sources, to be specific
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 21, 2014
@RapSheet . . . Why won't they deny it on the record? Because they can't.
— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) February 21, 2014
@ProFootballTalk @RapSheet is this on the record? Report isn't true

You’re not going to find a better source anywhere than the CEO of the organization that was reportedly trading their head coach. Pretty interesting what you will find on Twitter when two insiders go back and forth and one has their facts refuted by the team’s CEO, huh?
