NFL free agency is almost upon us and there are plenty of teams that will look to the pool of unemployed NFL talent to help improve their team ahead of the draft this year. Some teams may even dramatically alter their draft strategies because of who they land in free agency and one such team may be the Houston Texans.
While they’re expected to take a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick this May, CBSSports insider Jason La Canfora has some news on who may be the bridge between the Matt Schaub years and the whoever-is-next years.
Fully expect Matt Cassel to hit the open market March 11. He's still been talking to MIN but nothing close. I anticipate he lands in Houston

Now, signing Cassel won’t convince the Texans that they shouldn’t take a quarterback in the draft and it may not even deter them from taking on with the first pick. But having a veteran like Cassel to bridge the gap is a wildly smart idea and the Texans would be wise to make it happen.
