
The Minnesota Vikings have begun moving on from Jared Allen, but the star defensive end hasn’t been able to find a home in free agency thus far but he apparently came rather close. DeMarcus Ware is the biggest signing of free agency on Wednesday and one of the biggest signings overall and according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, he very literally took a spot away from Jared Allen.
Rapoport states that the Broncos had a 3-year, $30 million offer on the table for Allen but held off on having him sign it until they saw what happened with Ware. Allen’s doppelgänger ended up getting the deal instead and the Vikings defensive end is now back to looking for work.

This is really nothing more than a footnote, as despite what Rapoport sensationally reported earlier in the afternoon, Allen likely won’t retire if he doesn’t find deal he thinks if fair value.
As for the deal the Broncos were going to give him, other teams now know a $30 million contract was offered to Allen and that may have just set his market value.
